Walk to School Week
Last week, our school took part in Walk to School week. The week was a great success and our website reporters have already been busy writing about it! Read more to see Thea's (2LS), Katy's (2LS), Finlay's (1AB) and Megan's (1AB), account of how our school made it all happen!
Thea
On Monday 16th June, different schools took part in Walk to School week. Nearly everyone walked and some went in the car and all sorts happened. The children who walked 5 times each got a little badge saying "I walked all week". Everyone took part and had fun. Each class designed a poster to make less pollution, good exercise and healthiness. If the teachers chose your poster they will give you a wicked treat!
Katy
Everybody was asked to walk to school instead of going in the car. We were walking to school because it helps the environment and also it is good exercise. Walking to school costs nothing so we save money too. I liked receiving my token at the gate.
Megan
All the children who walked to school got a special ticket at the gates to give to their teacher for a sticker for their class chart. Mrs Robinson stood at the gate holding 60 balloons to remind us how much air is wasted by every person who drives to school. If everyone in the class walked to school they could win a prize. The winners were a Year 6 and a Year 2 class and the winners were rewarded with one of the red balloons each. All of the children enjoyed Walk to School week. I love to walk too!
Finlay
We learnt that walking to school is very good for you and it also helps you to learn road safety. It makes less pollution too. Every drive to school and back makes enough pollution to fill 60 balloons.
