The Bears and The Tigers compete!
Teams of keen young footballers from five local primary schools met for the first time recently as they took part in the first of this year’s primary school football tournaments at Kelvin Hall.

The two Bricknell teams, The Bears and the Tigers, competed well with the Bears currently top of the league having won 4 and drawn one of their five games.
The tournament takes place six times during the year, once every half term, and is held on the 3G astroturf pitch.

By taking part, pupils from Appleton, Bricknell, Hall Road, Thoresby and Wold Primary Schools get the chance to compete against one another on a regular basis.
The event is held at Kelvin to give year six pupils the chance to meet members of the school’s PE department and to use the fantastic facilities on offer.
The event is also officiated by current year 10 Btec sport and performance students. The students get the chance to run the matches and see one of the potential pathways available to them if they have an interest in progressing through school sport.
The first event was attended by around 45 pupils and was open to boys and girls. The overall winner of the competition will be announced at the end of the year after the schools have played all of their matches.
