Radio 2 - 500 Words Competition
As part of the BBC Year of Books, the Chris Evans Breakfast Show invited the children of the UK to fire up their imaginations and to put pen to paper, chisel to stone, quill to parchment, or just finger to keyboard. Anyone aged 13 or under was invited to write a short story of 500 words about any made-up subject to enter the 500 Words Competition.
One of our pupils, Josie Litten, did just that and her entry is now online as one of only 50 finalists! Follow the link below to read her story under the heading 'Armidillo', or read more to find out what happens for Josie now.

The Top 50 stories were narrowed down by a panel of volunteer teachers. As well as being displayed on the BBC website, the authors and their families are invited to an outside broadcast at the Hay On Wye Literary Festival with Chris Evans and the Radio 2 Breakfast Show team! Next, the star judges will select their favourite 5 from the Top 50 - and then select an overall winner! The Judges include, David Walliams, whose book Billionaire Boy was voted as favourite at the recent Hull Children's Book Award.
Josie's family are all very excited about going to the Hay Festival on 3rd June to hear the winner announced. Keep checking back and we'll let you know how she gets on. Good Luck Josie!
