Children’s work: The Strange Shoe
George Curtis has written a wonderful poem called ‘The Strange Shoe’
The bear is in the jungle looking at a strange shoe.
A handsome tiger came prowling through. ‘It’s a dried up fish’, it growled.
An inquisitive monkey comes in. ‘It’s a nut shell’, it screeched.
The graceful deer came and prodded the shoe. ‘It’s a piece of bark’, snorted the deer.
A lean wolf came and sniffed the shoe. ‘It’s a bird’s nest’, it roared.
The owl flew out of the tree. The owl talked to the animals and said ‘this is a man’s shoe’. The owl hooted but the animals didn’t believe her and the animals roared and turned against her and the owl flew away and went to another jungle.
