Bricknell’s Football Team beat local rivals Thoresby Primary
Bricknell’s Football Team got off to a flying start in their first game of the season, winning 10-0 against local rivals Thoresby.
The team were nervous before the game but quickly settled down once the whistle went and played some wonderful football and really enjoyed playing on the new fantastic pitch. Mr Hass had made sure the pitch was marked beautifully and the nets and goals up, making Bricknell feel a little like the KC stadium.
Bricknell attacked ferociously throughout the first half and only some brilliant saves by the Thoresby keeper kept the score to 4-0 at half time. Strikers Ben and Jacob showed lots of skill and pace as they terrorised their opponents and were supported well by Kieron, Nathan and the two Georges who were in charge in midfield.
The second half was even better for Bricknell, scoring 6 more goals. Dylan came on and made a real difference with some great play and was unlucky not to score. Arif and Alfie both stormed forward to score great goals too. Man of the match was given by Mr Jones to our captain, Leon, who was brilliant in defence and encouraged his team well, whilst also showing superb sportsmanship.
It was a great first match in superb conditions and a good start for Bricknell. The team will be playing in a seven-a-side tournament next week at Kelvin and will look to continue their good form.
The team would like to thank Mr Hass for getting the pitch ready, Mr Duffy and the Thoresby team for coming to play us and Mr Jones for organising the team. It was also great to see so many people come and support us, thanks parents and other Bricknell pupils!
