About Bricknell Primary School

Bricknell Primary School was built in 1949 and is situated in a residential area close to the University of Hull (view location map.) Pupils living in the catchment area of the school usually transfer to Kelvin Hall High School.

Pupils

The admission number for each year group is 90.  The school has an early admissions policy which takes pupils in the September of the year of their fifth birthday.  Applications are dealt with by the Local Authority.  Pupils and parents will be invited to the school before they start to meet staff and familiarise themselves with the school surroundings.  Staff will also have the opportunity to carry out a home visit so parents, teachers and nursery nurses can get to know each other and can discuss the curriculum and any other issues.  Full details of the admission procedures are given at the New Parents Meeting.

Parents who move into the area should contact the school regarding pupil addmission.  An appointment will usually be made for them to visit the school to ask questions and discuss admission arrangments.  As the school is popular some year groups may be full.

School Accommodation

The school is housed in a large building which was formerly two schools. There are 21 classrooms plus a library, computer suite, a design technology room, a conference room and two small group teaching areas. One of these is used by the many peripatetic music staff who visit the school. In addition to the main school there is a separate building which houses kitchens and two dining halls.

The school has a large field that accomodates the wide range of extra curricular activities that take place.
